The Rainy Goa..

What started as an innocent young impromptu travel to Goa on 15th August 2006 with the divine realization of the implications of  Dry Day, has now become an integral part of my annual travel pilgrimage for the past decade. Goa in monsoons is at its charismatic best. Away from the heat, humidity and family crowd of May summers and far away from the loud, drunk youth of New Years in December; August, I believe, is the best time to visit Goa.

  • Monsoon has showered its blessings and covered Goa into a lush green landscape.
  • Tourists are few and the 5 stars offer some great deals.
  • Even Baga & Titos are relatively quite.
  • You can enjoy peacefully reading a book in Britos and enjoy a beer
  • Riding a bike through Goa is undoubtedly the most pleasant experience
  • You can enjoy a Blackjack game in the casino without waiting for a table for hours
  • Sun plays hide-n-seek with the dark clouds and you get to enjoy a pleasant weather
  • The seas are clear of jet skies and water sports for you to enjoy undisturbed views till horizon
  • Sound of waves and the cool breeze makes you enjoy life
  • A pleasant shower every now and then keeps your temperatures down
  • You can evaluate every item in the shops on street and get the best bargains

Since South Goa is closed in monsoons, albeit the 5 star resorts, we prefer North Goa as the destination to hang  out and stay in August. Goa has been an integral part of my travel for last 10 years and I must admit it provides a very relaxing and calming experience that very little Indians consider Goa for.

Fingers crossed and I hope to continue this for years to come!
